Progress Update

It has been a while since I last updated my blog and I will be honest it is because I have been so busy at the moment.

Whilst balancing my studies and personal time I have been putting in the hard work to make progress on my book. It has not been easy. I am happy to report that I have now written sixteen thousand words and I am still going. To some sixteen thousand will sound a lot and to others it will sound like a small percentage of the journey I have yet to go.

A young adult book is roughly 60 - 80 thousand words, so yes, the amount that I have written has little impact on the overall goal. But I think that it is important to highlight the small milestones along the way. Each thousand that I achieve is a minute step towards a dream I have held onto for so many years. I think that is definitely something to be proud of.

As I like to remind myself often, I am no expert. Although I would love to be an award winning author, selling thousands of copies of my hit book, I am not. I am simply a young person with a dream, something I can only hope to achieve. If I one day make this dream a reality, this blog will be the witness to my struggles and achievements. It will show the books I have read along the way and the progress I have so steadily made. But I think it will all be worth it.

Dreams are made to be achieved. No matter how high you have to reach for those stars, you have to believe that you will touch them one day. For now, I will work hard each day. I will focus on what is important and I will strive to achieve the small goals that I set myself. I have the hope that a novel will become of my efforts and I hope that the dreams that whoever is reading this holds will become just as much of a reality as mine.
